The sense of being monitored and controlled reminds me of The Truman Show. His life is live streaming by the high-tech camera but the one who really manipulates this is the director. The camera compresses Truman from an alive person to a 2D image that can be shown on television. He is a character but not a person.

Because of the pandemic, I’ve already taken the online class for three semesters. During that time, I realized how the internet is playing an important role in our life. I can’t remember from when but the internet has gradually become the “Necessity”. I need the internet to upload all my homework, my mom needs it to shop online and my dad needs it to arrange a Zoom meeting with his colleague. What will the world become if the internet and other high-tech take more control in the future? I just can’t stop thinking about this question. In this collection, I want to reconsider the relationship between humans and high-tech things, we create them but at the same time are we potentially ruled by them?
